Website terms of use
Effective 5 September 2026.
- 01Who runs this site
-
vidda.ca is operated by Vidda Software Inc., 420 W Hastings St, Unit 300, Vancouver, British Columbia V6B 1L1, Canada.
By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the site.
Questions about these terms go to info@vidda.ca. Questions about your personal information go to privacy@vidda.ca, and our Privacy policy is at https://vidda.ca/privacy.
- 02What this site is for
-
This site exists to explain what Vidda is, to explain how Canadian retirement rules work, and to show you how our calculations are built so that you can judge them for yourself.
It is a place to read and to decide whether Vidda is for you. Nothing on it is a transaction. Vidda itself is bought through Apple's App Store and is governed by its own Terms of Use, at https://vidda.ca/terms, not by this agreement.
- 03What you read here is information, not advice
-
We write about how Canadian tax rules, pension rules and benefit rules work. We do that because those rules are genuinely hard to find in plain language, and because we would rather you understood them than took our word for anything.
Explaining a rule is not advising you about it. Nothing on this site is financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance or accounting advice, and reading it does not create an advisory relationship, a fiduciary duty or a relationship of trust between you and us.
Vidda Software Inc. is not registered as an adviser, a dealer, or in any other category under the securities legislation of any Canadian province or territory, and we do not hold ourselves out as being registered. We are not a financial planning firm, and nobody at Vidda Software Inc. is acting as your financial planner or financial advisor.
We do not tell you what to do. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any investment, to use any financial institution or product, or to take any particular course of action with your money.
Your circumstances are yours, and we do not know them. Before acting on anything you read here, consider speaking to a qualified professional who can look at your whole situation.
- 04Accuracy
-
We take care with what we publish and we correct what we get wrong.
What we write is general. It describes rules as they apply broadly, not as they apply to you, and the way a rule works in your case can differ for reasons this site cannot know about.
Rules change, and pages age. Where a page depends on a rule that has a date attached, we show that date. If you are relying on something, check it against the source, and we will point you at the source wherever we can.
We do not warrant that the site or its content is complete, current or free from error, and to the extent the law allows we exclude implied warranties about it. That exclusion has limits set by the consumer protection law of the province where you live, and nothing here takes away a right that law gives you.
- 05Material we publish about how Vidda calculates
-
We publish material about our calculation methods, including our documented assumptions and our known limitations.
We publish it so that our arithmetic can be examined rather than taken on faith. It is provided for that purpose and no other. It is not a warranty that any result is correct, it is not advice, and it is not a substitute for professional judgement.
You may read it, download it, and check it. You may not republish it, sell it, or present it as your own work, and you may not use it to build a competing product.
- 06Using this site
- Please use the site normally. Do not attempt to interfere with it, gain access to any part of it you are not meant to reach, introduce anything harmful into it, collect information from it by automated means, or use it in a way that breaks the law or interferes with anyone else's use of it.
- 07What belongs to us
- The content, design, text, graphics, calculations and the Vidda name and marks on this site belong to us or to our licensors. You may read the site, and you may quote briefly from it with attribution and a link. Anything more than that needs our permission, which you can ask for at info@vidda.ca.
- 08Links to other sites
- Where we link to somewhere else, usually a government or regulator page, we do it because it is the source and you should be able to reach it. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for what is on them.
- 09Liability
-
We are liable to you for loss we cause you through our own fault, and nothing here limits that where the law does not allow it to be limited.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site or from anything you read on it, including decisions you make about your money.
- 10Disputes
-
If something is wrong, write to support@vidda.ca and tell us plainly. We would rather fix it than argue about it.
These terms are governed by the law of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. That does not deprive you of the protection of the consumer protection law of the province or territory where you live, and it does not require you to bring a claim anywhere other than where you live.
Nothing here prevents you from bringing or joining a class proceeding, or requires you to arbitrate a dispute with us, or restricts your ability to publish a review of Vidda.
- 11Changes
- We may change these terms, and the current version is always on this page with its effective date at the top. Changes apply from the date they are posted.
- 12Language
-
These terms are published in English. A French version is in preparation and will be published here, and the two versions will say the same thing.
Both versions live at this address, https://vidda.ca/website_terms. If your device or browser is set to French, French is the version we show you, and you can switch between them from the toggle at the top of the page at any time.
Quebec law requires the French version of an agreement like this one to be available to you before you agree to an English one. The French version is in preparation and will be published here. If you choose to proceed in English, the English version is the one that binds you. If no choice is made, the French version applies.
We publish both versions to everyone, wherever you live, because that is simpler than working out where you are and because a Canadian product should be readable in both languages.
Conditions d’utilisation
La version française de ces conditions est en préparation et sera publiée ici. Pour toute question, écrivez à info@vidda.ca.
